Nanobiotechnology Summer Camp presented by NanoBusiness Talent and the Contemporary Science Center

Details: - NanoBusiness Talent and the Contemporary Science Center are hosting a summer camp to engage high school students in nanobiotechnology. - Students will will perform nanobiotechnology experiments and visit local companies developing these technologies for novel therapeutic and diagnostic applications. - Dates: Camp 1 - June 13-17, 2011 (9 am - 5 pm) Camp 2 - June 20-24, 2011 (9am - 5 pm) - Total Cost: $50 (includes camp activities for 5 days, t-shirt, lunches, and transportation to and from nanobiotechnology companies)
Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering: - The home for the camp will be the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in Greensboro. JSNN built a new facility with $70M for construction and state-of-the-art nanoscience equipment. - Students are responsible for transportation to and from JSNN each day of the camp.
Eligibility: - This camp is limited to students that will have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school by June 13, 2011. - Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater. - Students will be selected based on their demonstrated passion for science, and their academic aptitude.

Application: Please submit the following information in a Word document or PDF to lesley@nanobusinesstalent.org by April 15 at midnight.
1. Contact Information - Full name of student, age on June 13, 2011, home address, personal email address - High school name and address, high school phone number, anticipated date of graduation - Name, email address, and phone number for a teacher as a reference. Please ask this teacher to submit a recommendation to lesley@nanobusinesstalent.org of no more than 1 paragraph by April 15, at midnight. - Emergency contact information for a parent or guardian including phone
numbers (home, work, cell), home address, email address.
2. Camp information - Preference for camp dates (either June 13-17 or June 20-24, 2011) and description of any conflicts you have with these dates. - Preferred t-shirt size (generic sizes, no distinction between men and women) - Description of any dietary restrictions
3. Academic Information - Weighted GPA and unweighted GPA - List of high school science courses you will have completed by June 13 - List of extra-curricular activities, if any - List of honors and awards you have received, if any
4. Short essay (300 words or less) - Why are you interested in a career in science or entrepreneurship?
5. Other: - Application materials are due the evening of April 15, 2011 at midnight. - Students that have been selected will be notified on or by April 22, 2011. - You do not need to submit $50 until after you have been selected for the camp and choose to participate. - Visit www.nanobusinesstalent.org
